Tell us about Teller – what’s significant about the name and what inspired you to open Teller in Brunswick?

The name Teller is a nod to the building’s former life as a bank. We wanted a name that acknowledged the venue’s history while also capturing the idea of storytelling. Teller opened in Brunswick East because the area reflects the kind of energy we love, being diverse, creative and community-driven. It’s a neighbourhood that appreciates quality and individuality, and we felt there was room to offer something distinct yet welcoming.  

What led you to be so non-drinker-inclusive?

We’ve always believed that great hospitality means making everyone feel seen and included. Non-drinkers often get overlooked or offered uninspired options, so we made it a priority to create an inclusive beverage list that’s just as thoughtful and curated as our wine and cocktail offerings. Whether someone’s sober, pregnant, the designated driver, or just not in the mood to drink, they shouldn’t feel like an afterthought. It’s about making sure everyone can have a complete and enjoyable experience.

I love the fact that you recognise that you don’t have to be a “non-drinker” to sometimes not want a drink!! So, let’s talk about food; what cuisine can diners expect at Teller and what are your most popular dishes?

Teller serves elevated pub classics with a Mediterranean twist. Think house-made schnitzels, gourmet burgers, premium steaks, fresh seafood, and seasonal share plates. The menu is designed to be approachable yet high quality, with something for every appetite. Some crowd favourites include our crispy chicken schnitzel, the 12 hour roasted lamb shoulder, and our weekly steak Wednesdays. It’s comfort food done thoughtfully, with a strong focus on freshness and flavour.

Well, I have to say, your burgers are my personal favourite! I also love that you have the courtyard which is pet friendly, it’s cool that you are not only inclusive of those not wanting alcohol, but also the four legged variety! What else makes Teller special?
